Deep Wind develops advanced automated welding and post-weld treatment technologies for floating offshore wind foundations. The project focuses on increasing weld fatigue life, reducing material consumption, and lowering manufacturing costs through intelligent automation and validated production methods. By supporting the large-scale deployment of floating offshore wind, Deep Wind contributes to a more sustainable, resilient, and competitive European wind energy industry.

The project aims to improve the sustainability and cost-efficiency of floating offshore wind turbine platforms through innovations in automated welding, post-weld treatment, and fatigue life enhancement. By combining advanced manufacturing technologies, residual stress control, and industrial-scale validation, the project seeks to reduce steel consumption, lower CO₂ emissions, extend structural lifetime, and decrease production costs. The project brings together research and industry partners to enable the next generation of competitive and sustainable floating offshore wind structures manufactured in Europe.
