The LEGO Demonstrator project aims to tackle the challenges of introducing multi-robotic solutions to assist operators in injection mold (dis-)assembly operations at LEGO. Currently, mold assembly and disassembly are performed manually by human operators to ensure the quality of plastic molding production. This project employs a robotic system to support human operators in (dis-)assembling injection molds during maintenance operations. It utilizes an industrial robot to lift heavy components and a collaborative robot equipped with an automatic screwdriver.

The project addresses three main challenges: first, simplifying the programming process for robotic systems in scenarios with high product variants using Digital Twins; second, digitalizing manual processes to create comprehensive descriptions that provide detailed information for both humans and machines; and third, enabling safe human-robot collaboration with industrial robots for (dis-)assembly operations in the manufacturing industry.
