The Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute at the University of Southern Denmark is now taking the next step in robotics development and innovation by establishing the world’s first test and development center for industrial digitalization and robotic solutions for the production and servicing of mega structures.

The aim of this project is to provide developers, companies, entrepreneurs and researchers with a platform and opportunity to test and develop new solutions based on advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, 3D printing and multifunctional robots in new production processes – and systems that can automate production stages in the manufacture of particularly large structures.

The project will strengthen automation and digitalization in several industries and exploit the full potential of robotics to create more flexible and efficient production of large structures.

Main activities

  • Establishment of a physical LSP go-to lab at Odense Port.
  • Design and installation of research and test equipment for digitized and automated production of large elements such as ship segments, buildings and offshore foundations
  • Building research and business networks for new projects, products and services, knowledge and competence development.
  • Teaching students and companies in LSP topics.
