Model-, data-, and simulation-based system engineering puts digital models, sensor data, and computer simulations at the core of an engineering methodology (consisting of workflows, methods and tools) for robotic technologies (systems and services). The core approach of our development of an engineering methodology for robot technologies is to implement comprehensive, simulatable virtual replicas of robotic technologies for the incremental development and optimization of system hardware, control algorithms and lifecycle services (i.e. to support deployment, operation and maintenance). One focus is on the development of zero-programming concepts which allow for robotic operations being commanded automatically and directly from digital product descriptions.
